WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) today issued the following statement supporting the goals and ideals of National Cyber Security Awareness Month:

"The internet is an incredible tool, capable of connecting billions of people throughout the world.  But it has also inadvertently created a new security threat for America: cyber attacks.  Protecting our public and private computer networks from these attacks is one of the most important security challenges we currently face.

"As a member of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cyber Security, and Science and Technology, I am committed to securing our country's cyber-infrastructure against potential threats.  I am pleased that the Obama Administration has also made cyber security a priority, and look forward to working with the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to ensure we are fully defending our military and civilian cyber networks."
